Before we look at the strength of being on different parts of the spectrum, let’s take a look at symptoms that professional associate with being considered “special.”

The most common symptom of ADHD or ADD is being unable to remain quiet and sit still, especially in boring settings. This results in constant fidgeting, when told to sit and remain in one place. Sometimes if a person needs to simply wait their turn for something or are stuck in a car, they will exert signs of hyperactivity, when they are just active, because they rather be doing something else. This causes people to believe that these people are easily distracted and have some type of disorder.

Sometimes if a given task is viewed as uninteresting by a person on the spectrum they will simply not concentrate on the said task, because of this they are viewed as having a short attention span. What people fail to note is most of these special people, only seem to be unable to stick to a task, if it’s negatively time-consuming or outright tedious. However, even the most enjoyable task can seem boring after a while.

This makes it harder for potential toxic manipulators to instruct any sort of jackaling. This is why these special people are so heavily targeted at a younger age in schools, when it comes to their indoctrination. But even for beneficial tasks, if they are done for too long, a person will most likely look to change their task or activity out of boredom. Different people have different limits on how boredom they can handle. Even though this might seem difficult, if they regularly shift tasks, at their correct time interval, they can come back fresh-minded to each task, and perform better, instead of burning out, due to boredom or lack of motivation.

The most noticeable disorder one of these special individuals exerts is Opposition Defiant Disorder. Oppositional Defiant Disorder is when a person has a negative, even sometimes disruptive behavior, directed toward an authoritative figure. If this is lead untreated during adolescents, it could lead to an adult who is either untrusting of government or some believing in conspiracy theories. Many people who don’t fit in with the norms, and follow the crowd, suffer from depression, due to them feeling lonely can be cut off from the rest of the world. This puts them in a state where they feel sad and hopeless. Sleeping problems are another problem that seems to occur to those who are considered special.

People with these hyperactive minds do tend to have their own negative attributes related to their mental health, along with their strength. One of these most common negative attributes is something known as anxiety disorder, where they worry too much or are overly nervous. This does lead to physical effects to the special person’s body such as rapid heart rate, perspiration, or disorientation.

On the other side of the spectrum, you have people who act without thinking. These people always make careless mistakes, that they never learn from, or just seem to not even notice. Some of these people even appear to act forgetful and lost regularly.

The mere idea of being called special is sometimes enough to convince a person to act in ways that they are uncomfortable. After even being called “special” myself, I am very skeptical that having a hyperactive mind isn’t as personally detrimental as following the common group think is pushed by the mainstream. Especially if you look at how often people are misdiagnosed with ADD, ADHD, and Autism, it makes you wonder if being labeled “special” is actually just disguised as a sort of medical insult, rather than an actual disorder.

A lot of these people who are considered “special” are also very beneficial to humanity, with many of them having rare and new skills, which most normal people fail to exert. Growing up I too was considered special, and although having a hyperactive mind might have been looked down upon by the educational system, at the same time it did help me out with certain activities, such as critical thinking. The biggest downside to a person having a hyperactive mind is that they are not easily controlled or manipulated in any way detrimental to the special person. Just like some people are better at reading and writing, some people are better at sports or outdoor activities. This doesn’t mean one person is better than the other, but rather that they have homed in two separate sets of skills to deal with encounter.

People who are deemed “special” are sometimes just late bloomers, sometimes even overcoming social anxiety and outperforming their “normal” peers later on in life. If we look at the best in any field, or people who are considered geniuses, a lot of these talented individuals were diagnosed or are portrayed as having developmental issues at a young age. Everyone has certain abilities that make them develop concentration in other activities that people from the outside might view as odd. Just like some people find a competitive attitude with sports, some people are competitive either socially or with strategic thinking. The best thing to do is from a young age, find out what we are driven to, and research and learn how to sharpen those skills to be honed for a better future.
