However just like real world tangible things, such as sex, visual things can also be able to manipulate these same chemical reactions. People should know that instincts work, that food works, favors work, orgasms work, bribes work, fear triggers, and promises motivates. There are 4 main chemicals in happiness: Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, and Endorphins.
Dopamine:
Dopamine has to be the most well-known of these brain chemicals. It enables motivation by enabling pleasure. This chemical gives animals a reason to mate and eat, or else they would go extinct. We humans are motivated to do the same thing as well as reach personal goals, because of dopamine. When people suffer a lack of, they usually experience low level self-esteem, and low-level energy/ fatigue. This can lead to people having lack of motivation or an inability to focus can. A feeling of being either helpless or anxious is usually paired with a person who suffers a drop in dopamine, with mood swings in between. If you are feeling any of these symptoms of lack of dopamine, there are a few things you can do. The simplest fix is usually mediation, or by setting and accomplishing goals. However, make sure the goal remains achievable. Exercise and eating food rich in L-Tyrosine
Oxytocin:
The neurological chemical that gives us a feeling of trust and that helps us grow our relationships is known as Oxytocin. Since this chemical is known for playing its role in bonding and affection, it is often referred to as the “Cuddle Hormone” or the “Love Hormone.” People who have a low level of oxytocin in their system, usually suffer from feeling lonely, this leads to many of the same problems in terms of energy or motivation as a person lacking dopamine, but experiencing insomnia is more linked to lack of oxytocin.
Oxytocin is more affected by relationships, rather than events. Since Oxytocin is tied to relationships and physical touch, there are both physically based, as well as mentally based methods to increase your happiness level, if you fall victim to low Oxytocin levels. Some of the more physical ways can be as simple as the physical touch of a loved one or a furry friend. However, massages, acupuncture, exercise, or even a cold shower are all physical things that can increase your oxytocin levels. Some mental exercises that can help increase oxytocin levels are Socializing, listening to music, or meditation.
Serotonin:
If Oxytocin is relatable with the feminine side of happiness, then serotonin is its counter, with it being the hormone with the ability to both make a person feel both calm a bad situation and important to other circumstances. People who suffer from the issue of low self-worth, being emotionally over sensitive, mood swings, insomnia, or just having a feeling of low self-worth, you might be serotonin deficient. Increasing serotonin can be done usually through a physical method. Exercise and a cold shower can increase happiness level in people with low serotonin, as well as massages or sunlight.
Endorphin:
Another mental hormone that the body uses to mask physical pain, while it can also help alleviate stress, anxiety, and even depression. People lacking endorphins will notice mental effects such as anxiety, depression, or mood swing. The physical effects of not having enough endorphins are insomnia to aches and pains. Laughter or just creating things are simple ways to boost endorphins, but eating spicy foods or dark chocolate can have the same effect. Some physical activities that can help boost endorphins are massaging meditating.
