Having a messy area, unorganized storage, or any messy stuff in general, can have a negative impact on how well accomplished tasks. Unfortunately for some people, making an area clean and organized is a difficult task. An unorganized or messy environment can also be over stimulating to our minds and can make it harder to work.
If being unorganized applies to you, then it will be more difficult to even start organizing. The best thing to do, if you are feeling overwhelmed by the thought of cleaning, is make a to-do list of all the areas or objects you need to clean and organize. Check items off the to do list as you finish cleaning and organizing different areas as you complete other areas as you finish others. There is no need to get it all done in one day, if you spend an hour or half cleaning a every weekend or with a few minutes every day, you will be amazed at what you can accomplish. Once you finish cleaning, it is much easier to maintain with less time spent. However, if getting organized and decluttering is something new, you may need to put in more time to start.
Don’t be afraid to get rid of things you don’t need at the same time. This is a very important part of the decluttering process, and sometimes people have a hard time letting go of things that they don’t need. If you don’t ever need it, use it, or have it maintained any value, then get rid of it.
