Blue Light is a type of light given off by electronic devices, and it can affect your body, exposure to blue light will cause health issues, to both your brain and body. The light from smartphone screen deteriorates our body’s ability to process melatonin, resulting in ruined sleep schedules. Over the course of time, a ruined sleep schedule will lead to all sorts of personal health defects. A disrupted sleeping schedule can lead to cognitive impairment, with impaired memory and lack of focus, experienced during the day. Also wasting time surfing at night, can dig into your sleeping time as well, leading to drowsiness during the day. The weird sleeping hours due to surfing, as well as negatively affected melatonin levels, can lead to a disrupted biological clock as well, making it even harder to fall asleep even if we don’t scroll before bed. Over the long term, not getting enough sleep can lead to a build of neurotoxin, which can deteriorate mental health. All of these effects can lead to depression, and a lower quality of life.

There have also been studies conducted, which showed that prolonged exposure to blue light, from smart phones and computers, can damage the retina of your eyes over time. However, research needs more time to prove what the definitive side effects of blue light are over a long duration. There’s also speculation that blue light can lead to cataracts as well. Rumors are also circulating around that blue light also leads to cancer, just like everything else new from the modern era. Scroll time, also leads us sitting still, and just like too much television, too much scroll time can lead to obesity.
