Trolls happen to have many different tasks. While some of these tasks might seem mundane, they are very important for a successful social engineering campaign done through social media.
One of the biggest tasks trolls have to do is recruit. They always have to recruit to their cause or to join their groups. While this might not be seen as something important, a troll with a larger troll group is much more powerful than a troll with no supporters behind them. This group can be helpful in raiding and bullying accounts or can also be useful in pushing a message that the group wants.
On a regular basis, a troll should be going through their targets post and content, to see if anything posted by them can be republished, but pushed with a negative, to make their target look bad. So, exploring and studying what the target has been posted is another task which should be regularly done by trolls who are in the process of targeting someone.
New ideas, when making memes, content, or just trying to do any type of social engineering project, new ideas are always important. Old ideas for content and types of content lose their power to influence people. That’s why new types of media always outperform older types of media, like television vs the radio, or radio vs the newspaper. Even if it’s not a new type of media you are creating fresh ideas, will always keep your content new and exciting to others.
Another important task is meme making, since making a meme about someone is usually the best way to share an idea quickly and efficiently through the internet and social media. If you find information on someone that can be used against them, making a meme about it is an easy way to have it be shared.
Sharing memes is also important, even if you aren’t the one who made them. This helps ideas flow and spread, even if you are not the original creator. Many social media apps have easy ways to share content made by other people. Not only will sharing memes and posts help spread your ideas, it will also help you community grow as well, since more accounts will be getting exposure to their content.
The last regular task of a troll is ignoring the haters. If you have something to say, and go about saying it, people are going to dislike you. They are either going to hate the message you are trying to push, or they simply will just hate you out of envy. There’s no way to please everyone so the best thing to do is to learn how to ignore them. This can be done by simply ignoring them, blocking them, or having them become a target.
